India and West Indies begin a three-match ODI series today at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. It opens a busy month for the two sides: the one-day games run until October 3, followed by five T20Is, taking the tour through seven Indian cities before it finishes in Bengaluru on October 17.
The ODI schedule
All three one-day internationals start at the same time: 2:00 PM IST (8:30 AM GMT, 4:30 AM EDT), with the toss half an hour earlier at 1:30 PM IST.
1st ODI: Sunday, September 27. Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram
2nd ODI: Wednesday, September 30. Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati
3rd ODI: Saturday, October 3. Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, New Chandigarh
With an afternoon start, each match will finish under lights.
Where to watch in India
The series is on the Star Sports network on TV. It streams live on JioHotstar, on the app and website, which needs a subscription.
The squads at a glance
Shubman Gill captains India's ODI side, with KL Rahul as vice-captain. Rohit Sharma returns after two months out of international cricket, and Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja are also in the squad. Shai Hope leads West Indies, whose attack is built around the pace of Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph and Jayden Seales.
After the ODIs: five T20Is
The tour switches format straight after Mullanpur, with Shreyas Iyer captaining India's T20I side:
October 6: Lucknow
October 9: Ranchi
October 11: Indore
October 14: Hyderabad
October 17: Bengaluru
If you only catch one, make it the opener at Greenfield. West Indies were bowled out for 104 the last time they played here, and how their top order handles the new ball in Thiruvananthapuram will tell us early whether this is a contest or a warm-up.
