India has named veteran fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar as a late replacement for injured teammate Arshdeep Singh ahead of the series-deciding fifth T20I against the West Indies. Singh suffered a shoulder injury during the fourth match in Hyderabad, forcing his withdrawal from the squad.
The series remains tied at 2-2, with the decider scheduled for Saturday at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Kumar, a 36-year-old campaigner with recent experience in the T20 series against New Zealand, was added to the 16-man squad to bolster India’s bowling depth.
His inclusion leaves open the possibility of Singh’s return if his recovery progresses, though a final decision will be made before kickoff. The match will determine the winner of the three-match T20I series, adding pressure to both teams’ final preparations.
