New Zealand’s opening batsman Devon Conway has been ruled out of the first ODI against India after sustaining a concussion during a training drill. The injury occurred when Conway collided with teammate Matt Henry while attempting an aerial catch at Eden Park, and he was taken to hospital for further assessment.
Back‑up batter Tim Seifert has been named as Conway’s direct replacement, a decision confirmed by New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner. Santner noted the seriousness of head injuries and confirmed Henry is fine. The change comes after New Zealand’s recent 3‑2 victory in the five‑match T20I series against India.
