Kentucky signal-caller Kenny Minchey experienced a sharp decline in efficiency following an impressive showing against ninth-ranked Texas A&M, during which he hit 14 of 18 attempts for 252 yards and a pair of scores. Although Kentucky still managed to secure a 45-21 victory over South Alabama last weekend, Minchey struggled to find any rhythm, completing 19 of 25 passes for 177 yards, tossing one touchdown, absorbing two sacks, and losing a fumble.
His night also included a deep fourth-down pass that hit tight end Willie Rodriguez right in the hands before being dropped, alongside a trio of running backs in C.J. Baxter, Jason Patterson, and Jovantae Barnes who each crossed the 100-yard rushing mark.
Despite the four-game sample size, ESPN metrics currently place Minchey at the bottom of the Southeastern Conference quarterback rankings with an overall QBR of 33.0, driven down by a meager 8.7 rating against South Alabama compared to his stellar 88.7 mark versus Texas A&M. The sophomore passer will need to recapture that previous form as the squad prepares for an upcoming matchup on the road against South Carolina.
