How the D-backs can pass the Phillies for the final NL Wild Card spot

Riding a five-game winning streak after sweeping the Rockies, the Diamondbacks sit two games behind the Phillies for the final National League Wild Card berth with a record of 85-74. Arizona will hand the ball to Brandon Pfaadt for the opening matchup of a crucial three-game weekend series against the Padres, though Philadelphia controls its own destiny by hosting the Rays with Cristopher Sánchez slated to pitch Friday's opener.

Weather threats from an oncoming Nor'easter could disrupt weekend scheduling in Philadelphia, while the postseason picture remains fluid with potential tiebreaker scenarios involving the Padres and Cubs.
