How Texas, led by Colin Simmons' record five sacks, survived wild finish at Tennessee

Top-ranked Texas secured a tense 20-17 road victory against fourteenth-ranked Tennessee, powered by a historic defensive display from edge rusher Colin Simmons. Simmons tallied a program-record five sacks, disrupting opposing quarterback Faizon Brandon throughout the contest and sealing the outcome by pressuring a final desperation heave that safety Jelani McDonald knocked down in the end zone.

The Longhorns improved their record to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in Southeastern Conference play while handing the Volunteers their first defeat of the season. Quarterback Arch Manning guided the visiting offense under the direction of defensive coordinator Will Muschamp, overcoming a hostile environment and holding off a late charge.
