Army’s Cale Hellums dominated the ground game in a hard-fought 20–17 win over Tulane, rushing for a career-high 223 yards on 38 carries—nearly doubling his yardage from last season’s matchup. The Black Knights’ quarterback led the way with a late first-quarter touchdown to put Army ahead 7–0, then sealed the victory with a 58-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter after Tulane’s Jaylin Lucas extended their lead to 17–10.
Tulane’s final drive stalled at the Army 33-yard line, and Army’s rushing attack—ranked No. 1 in FBS—controlled the clock before Dawson Jones’ 25-yard field goal as time expired.
The win marked Army’s fourth straight game decided by four points or fewer, with three of those victories coming down to the final two minutes. Tulane’s offense struggled on the ground, managing just 122 rushing yards, while Army’s possession-heavy approach limited Tulane to 158 passing yards through quarterback Kadin Semonza, who replaced Trace Johnson as the starter.
