Hallgrimsson urges Uefa to keep Ireland and Israel apart in future

Following a deadlock in their recent fixture, Republic of Ireland manager Heimir Hallgrimsson has requested that tournament organizers prevent future fixtures between his squad and Israel. The behind-closed-doors match took place in Serbia and ended in a one-all tie, though the lead-up and proceedings were heavily impacted by political tensions surrounding the ongoing conflict.

Controversy arose during the encounter when the Irish team lowered their heads while the opposing anthem played, drawing sharp criticism from state officials representing Israel. Additionally, stadium reports indicated an unsportsmanlike incident involving a local fitness staff member and an opposing player during the interval, prompting further calls for separation between the two national programs.
