Guimaraes haunts Sunderland as Arsenal continue winning start

Arsenal claimed top spot in the Premier League with a 2-0 victory against Sunderland, establishing a three-point lead over Manchester City ahead of City's upcoming derby meeting with Manchester United. The second half swung dramatically when Ezri Konsa conceded a penalty for grappling with Dan Ballard, only for Gunners goalkeeper David Raya to push Enzo Le Fee's spot-kick onto the woodwork.

Barely two minutes later, Bruno Guimaraes collected Declan Rice's delivery and unleashed a long-range screamer that ricocheted into the net off the crossbar, answering relentless jeers from the home crowd stemming from his Newcastle United ties.

Sunderland pushed hard to find an equaliser, but the visitors wrapped up the points in stoppage time following Reinildo Mandava's dismissal for a second yellow card after dragging down Bukayo Saka on a breakaway. Saka dispatched the resulting penalty himself to seal Arsenal's fourth consecutive league triumph and their sixth successive win across all competitions.
