The Los Angeles Lakers have teamed up with Goldin, the eBay-owned auction house, to bring historic team memorabilia directly to fans and collectors through live-streamed events. On October 13, an exclusive gathering at a private West Hollywood residence featured Lakers legends Magic Johnson, Kurt Rambis, and Derek Fisher, who signed jerseys and other collectibles on the spot.
Among the items showcased were Johnson’s three-times-signed purple Lakers jersey, a Wilt Chamberlain jersey from the 1972 Finals, a Magic Johnson MVP-season jersey, and Kobe Bryant’s twice-signed Nike Air Zoom Huarache 2K4 sneakers from his 42-point playoff game in 2004. The evening also included five championship rings from longtime Lakers announcer Lawrence Tanter, spanning the franchise’s titles from 2000–2002 and 2009–2010, with proceeds from Johnson’s jersey auction benefiting the Magic Johnson Foundation.
This marks the first major activation of Goldin’s multiyear partnership with the Lakers, announced in July, which will launch weekly Wednesday auctions on eBay Live starting October 28, blending historical memorabilia with current-season gear. The collaboration aims to democratize access to Lakers history, leveraging Goldin’s auction expertise and eBay’s global platform to connect fans worldwide with culturally significant pieces.
