Glasgow, 16, makes Docherty's Scotland U21 squad

Newly appointed Scotland under-21 boss Tony Docherty has selected seven uncapped footballers for his opening selection, taking over leadership of the developmental side from Scot Gemmill. His squad features Manchester United defender Daniel Armer alongside St Mirren defensive pair Henry Fieldson and Louis Jackson, plus nineteen-year-old Old Trafford midfielder Tyler Fletcher, who previously secured a full senior cap and travelled with the first team to the World Cup after Billy Gilmour suffered an injury.

Docherty, supported by ex-Hearts manager Steven Naismith as his assistant, plans to replicate the tactical approach of senior head coach Sebastien Pocognoli while collaborating with Scottish FA chief football officer Craig Mulholland to boost playing time for youngsters.

Scotland face a decisive pair of European Championship qualifiers, hosting Azerbaijan at Rugby Park on 30 September prior to a trip to Bulgaria on 6 October. Facing a narrow pathway to next year's tournament co-hosted by Albania and Serbia, Docherty's group must claim maximum points from both contests while relying on the Czech Republic to falter so they can seize second position, as group frontrunners Portugal remain poised to seal automatic progress.
