Gill's 223, Rohit's 101 power India to record 406-run chase against West Indies

India achieved a rare milestone in men's one-day internationals by successfully overtaking a target exceeding four hundred runs against the West Indies. The effort was anchored by major batting performances, leaving the batting side victorious with over six overs remaining.

Only one other men's ODI squad had previously accomplished a run chase of such magnitude, achieved when South Africa successfully ran down a larger total against Australia nearly two decades prior in Johannesburg. The West Indies had earlier established their own record highest team total in the format during the fixture.
