The New York Giants staged a dramatic late rally against the Washington Commanders on Sunday, clawing back from a 14-point fourth-quarter deficit to force overtime in a Week 5 showdown. After struggling offensively for much of the game, quarterback Jameis Winston led a four-possession, 24-point surge in the second half, including a clutch touchdown to Isaiah Likely that trimmed the deficit to seven points with 7:15 left.
The Giants' momentum stalled in overtime, however, as a critical fumble by Cam Skattebo on the opening drive handed the Commanders the ball with a chance to win. Washington’s Jayden Daniels, who had engineered the team’s 27-13 lead, nearly sealed the victory with a late drive, but a botched snap on fourth down at the Giants’ 20-yard line killed any hope of a game-winning field goal as time expired.
The result left both teams at 27, marking the second straight overtime tie for the Giants this season.
