The Sun Belt Conference handed out its weekly volleyball awards, spotlighting three standout performers who delivered dominant performances over the weekend. Georgia State’s Akira Burt led the offensive charge with a two-match total of 39 kills and 42 points, including a standout 20-kill effort in a 3-1 victory that tied for the conference’s ninth-highest single-match kill total.
Burt’s consistency placed her third in the Sun Belt in both kills per set (3.83) and points per set (4.39), while her national rankings in total points (14th) and kills (15th) underscore her elite season. Meanwhile, Coastal Carolina’s Hatteras Welker anchored the defense with a conference-leading 22 blocks across eight sets, helping the Chanticleers secure their first wins of the season and setting a school record with 20 blocks in a single match.
Southern Miss’ Allie Hazelwood rounded out the honors as the top setter, breaking her own record for assists in a match with 61 and leading the league in total assists (105) and assists per set (13.13) for the week. Her fifth double-double of the season came in a 4-set win over Georgia State, further cementing her role as the conference’s most impactful setter this year.
