Sacramento State’s Victoria Marthaler and Skyler Gartin dominated the Big West’s weekly awards after a strong road swing, while Cal Poly’s Alexis Haury extended her impressive setter streak. Marthaler, the junior outside hitter, led the Hornets to back-to-back victories with 20 kills against UC San Diego and 21 kills at UC Irvine, averaging 5.13 kills and 5.63 points per set.
Her performance capped a week where she topped the conference in both kills (4.04 per set) and points (4.54 per set), earning her second Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season. Meanwhile, Gartin anchored Sacramento State’s defense with 1.75 blocks per set, five aces, and a .197 opponent hitting percentage over the weekend, securing her second Defensive Player of the Week award after a similar honor in September.
Cal Poly’s Haury, a junior setter, continued her standout play with 32 assists in a sweep of Cal State Fullerton and 34 assists in a win over Long Beach State, marking her third Setter of the Week honor and second consecutive weekly recognition.
