From Faridkot to India: Naman Dhir’s breakthrough moment

Faridkot all-rounder Naman Dhir has received his inaugural selection for India's upcoming three-match home ODI series against the West Indies following a standout showing in the Sher-E-Punjab T20 League. 61 strike rate.

His campaign featured a massive 173-run masterclass against Mohali Kings that included 16 boundaries and 12 maximums, achieved while opening the batting as Abhishek Sharma dropped down the order. After Abhishek departed the squad for national duties, Dhir took on both batting and leadership duties to help Amritsar capture the tournament championship against Ludhiana Lions, subsequently receiving the Player of the Tournament accolade from Yuvraj Singh.

Dhir's ascent builds on growing domestic prominence that previously earned him a spot in the one-day series against Australia A. 25 crore rupees.

Former India Under-19 player Manish Sharma, who coaches the Soormas as well as Punjab's senior men's squad, praised Dhir's advancement as a logical step for a player with great tactical clarity.
