England all-rounder Will Jacks bounced back from an unexpected medical emergency last month, requiring surgery for appendicitis at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh while attempting to celebrate his mother's birthday. Making an accelerated recovery from the procedure, the Mumbai Indians player returned to action ahead of schedule to captain the England Lions against Sri Lanka.

Yesterday, Jacks delivered his maiden five-wicket haul in one-day internationals with figures of 5 for 22 at Chester-le-Street, recording the second-best bowling figures for an English spinner in the format. Alongside his stellar bowling performance, which fell just shy of Vic Marks' historical benchmark, he also contributed an unbeaten knock of 46 runs to secure another comfortable victory for his side.
