Friday’s Pittsburgh-Virginia Tech game sets unique record

An unusual Friday night showdown is set for Lane Stadium as Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech clash with identical 4-0 records, marking the first time two unranked squads from major conferences have met under such circumstances. Both programs are fighting for positioning in the ACC standings and looking to secure a spot in the College Football Playoff picture.

Head coaches James Franklin and Pat Narduzzi will guide their respective squads into the primetime matchup broadcast on ESPN, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. ET called by Mike Monaco and Jordan Rodgers.

Virginia Tech holds a 12-11 edge in the historical matchup after taking the previous meeting during the 2023 campaign.
