Mississippi State’s season took a significant hit Friday with the downgraded status of star quarterback Kamario Taylor, now listed as doubtful for the showdown against LSU. Taylor, the Bulldogs’ top playmaker, would be a critical loss, given his elite talent and leadership at the position.
Alongside him, starting running back Fluff Bothwell—who left the team’s last game against Alabama after just one carry—was also downgraded to doubtful, further complicating Mississippi State’s offensive depth. On the defensive side, linebacker Jalen Smith, the team’s second-leading tackler, remains out after missing action since their September 26 win over Missouri, while defensive linemen Trevion Williams and Diesel Moye are also sidelined.
The Bulldogs’ injury woes extend to linebacker Zakari Tillman, who is also out of the lineup. Meanwhile, LSU’s lineup includes several questionable players, including tight end Trey’Dez Green, linebackers Whit Weeks and Tylen Singleton, and safety Dashawn Spears, all listed as doubtful.
The one bright spot for Mississippi State comes from wide receiver Anthony Evans III, who was upgraded to probable. Evans, the Bulldogs’ primary target for Taylor, is having one of the best seasons at the position in the SEC, and his availability could be pivotal if Taylor is ultimately unable to play.
