Franco Colapinto received a five-place grid drop for the upcoming Malaysian Grand Prix as punishment for his role in a major multi-car incident during the Formula 1 event in Baku. The Azerbaijan Grand Prix had previously been brought under neutral control via the safety car after Alexander Albon exited the race mid-distance, but the trouble occurred directly following the restart when the Alpine competitor suffered a massive braking lock-up and collided with Pierre Gasly's vehicle.
