Franklin Road Academy’s Walker Webb cemented his legacy as Tennessee’s top high school golfer by winning back-to-back individual state championships in the Division II-A boys tournament. Webb shot a final-round 7-under 137 to finish one stroke ahead of Jackson Christian’s Carson Andreoni, marking the first time an FRA golfer has claimed multiple state titles since Josh Holtschlag’s back-to-back wins in 2016 and 2018.
Webb’s two-day total of 134 mirrored his dominant performance from last year’s tournament, where he led his team to a runner-up finish while securing his first championship title.
Meanwhile, Grace Christian’s girls team claimed their first-ever state title in Division II-A, finishing 47-over par (327) and eight strokes clear of Evangelical Christian. Senior Lydia Walker and junior Leah Rowe contributed strong rounds of 23-over (163) and 24-over (164), respectively, as the team’s confidence grew after sweeping district and regional tournaments.
In the boys’ Division II-A championship, Christian Academy of Knoxville secured its 10th team title with a final tally of 25-over (601), led by junior Tyler Stafford’s 1-over-par 145. Summertown also emerged victorious in the Class A girls tournament, while Signal Mountain repeated as Class A boys champions.
Evangelical Christian’s Mathile Walker added to the day’s highlights by becoming her program’s first individual state champion in the girls’ DII-A event, shooting a 74 in the opening round and a 73 on the final day to finish five strokes ahead of Webb School’s Thawanporn Phothong.
