Journeyman blueliner Caleb Jones faces another demotion after the Pittsburgh Penguins placed him on waivers to reassign him to the American Hockey League. The veteran defender, whose career has included stops with Edmonton, Chicago, Carolina, Colorado, and Los Angeles, signed a two-year contract with Pittsburgh this past July.
His tenure with the franchise hit a major hurdle earlier this year when he served a twenty-game suspension for violating the league substance policy. Selected initially in the fourth round of the 2015 draft by the Oilers, Jones is the younger brother of fellow professional hockey player Seth Jones.
Over the past couple of seasons, he has struggled to secure consistent playing time at the major league level, appearing in a limited number of contests while bouncing between different organizations.
