Flyers' Concerning Start Deeper Than Stats and Results

The Philadelphia Flyers are off to a troubling 0-1-1 start in the 2026-27 campaign following a 7-0 blowout loss to Pittsburgh and a 3-2 overtime defeat against New Jersey. Analysts note the squad has surrendered a league-high 125 shot attempts at five-on-five while generating the fewest expected goals among two-game teams.

Head coach Rick Tocchet and defenseman Travis Sanheim expressed bewilderment regarding the team's disjointed execution and lack of preparedness. Tocchet pointed to limited practice time and admitted players appear nervous and choppy with the puck early in the year.
