First CFP rankings prove committee loves the SEC compared to coaches poll

The College Football Playoff selection committee released its initial top 25 rankings for the 2026 season on Tuesday, November 3, following the conclusion of Week 9. Miami secured the number one position, while Alabama made a surprising appearance at number five and Notre Dame was placed at number eleven.

The release has sparked debate regarding the committee's evaluation of Southeastern Conference teams, with several outlets noting a perceived bias in favor of the conference. Ohio State's standing is now considered precarious after the team suffered its second defeat of the season against USC on Saturday night.
