The NFL’s highly anticipated Falcons-Saints rematch on Monday Night Football drew just 11.9 million viewers, marking the lowest-rated primetime game of the season. The matchup, which the league prioritized for its symbolic connection to the 2006 Domecoming anniversary—a pivotal moment for the Saints following Hurricane Katrina—struggled to engage audiences, finishing nearly five million viewers behind even the season’s other primetime games.
The Falcons dominated the game with a 45-24 victory, but the lackluster performance on the field may have contributed to the dismal ratings, which fell well below the 19 million-plus average of the first three weeks of the season. Meanwhile, the entire Week 4 primetime slate saw its smallest audiences yet, with NBC’s Lions-Panthers game drawing 19.51 million and Prime Video’s Steelers-Browns game at 16.59 million, despite the latter facing stiff competition from baseball and WNBA games.
The NFL had hoped the Falcons-Saints clash, scheduled within weeks of the 20th anniversary of the Saints’ return to the Superdome, would resonate more strongly, but the result underscored a broader ratings dip across the league’s prime slots.
