Ex-Exeter, Palace and Watford keeper Miller dies

Former professional goalkeeper Kevin Miller has suddenly passed away at the age of 57 during the overnight hours on Tuesday. The Cornish native had been serving as the goalkeeping coach for Wigan Athletic, having arrived in the summer to link back up with manager Gary Caldwell after departing a similar backroom position at Exeter City in June.

Throughout an extensive playing career, he also represented Southampton, Bristol Rovers, Birmingham City, Torquay United, and Bodmin Town, leaving behind his wife Fiona and daughter Esme.

Miller initially entered the sport via Cornish non-league clubs Newquay and Falmouth Town prior to signing with Exeter City in 1989, where he secured a fourth-tier championship across an initial 200-match tenure before returning for another single-season stint in 2002. 5 million transfer to Crystal Palace in 1997.

He featured in every fixture of Palace's 1997-98 Premier League relegation season, remained as the primary starter for their 14th-place finish in the second tier the following year, and subsequently spent three seasons with Barnsley followed by a two-year stretch at Bristol Rovers.
