Chennai Super Kings has concluded its coaching transition as two key figures, Eric Simons and James Foster, have departed the franchise to join England’s Test team support staff. Simons, who joined CSK in 2018 and played a pivotal role in the team’s five IPL title victories under Stephen Fleming, will now contribute to England’s red-ball setup.
Foster, previously an England white-ball consultant from 2018 to 2022, rounds out the coaching additions alongside Fleming, who stepped down from CSK after an 18-year tenure to lead England’s Test and white-ball sides, respectively with Brendon McCullum. The move marks a significant shift for CSK, which has since appointed Zaheer Khan as head coach and Mohit Sharma as bowling coach, ahead of their upcoming campaign.
England’s new backroom team, including Marc Trescothick and Richard Dawson as spin bowling lead, will begin their tenure during the upcoming Test tour of South Africa.
