Sarina Wiegman has committed her future to the English national team by extending her contract through the termination of the 2029 European Championship. The fresh terms add another two years to her tenure, positioning the fifty-six-year-old manager to potentially capture a third consecutive continental crown.
Her previous agreement was scheduled to conclude following the upcoming global tournament in 2027. Under her guidance, the squad previously secured a historic home European triumph in 2022, successfully defended that trophy three years later, and finished as runners-up at the 2023 global competition following a decisive loss to Spain.
Her total duration at the helm will now span eight full years since taking over the position in 2021. Looking ahead, Wiegman's immediate focus rests on securing qualification for the upcoming global tournament hosted in Brazil.
To reach that destination, her team must first overcome Ukraine in a two-legged playoff round scheduled for December. Association leadership including Mark Bullingham and Debbie Hewitt have expressed strong backing for the manager, who previously claimed the top FIFA coaching honor for women on five separate occasions and captured an earlier European title with her home country of the Netherlands.
