The England and Wales Cricket Board has overhauled its player agreement framework for the 2026-2027 season, moving to a two-tier system. This updated structure includes 30 full central contracts and nine new development contracts, expanding the total pool of supported athletes to 39.
The development tier is intended to provide a formal pathway for emerging talent to bridge the gap between county cricket and the senior international setup. Alongside these personnel changes, the board has also implemented revisions to the men's coaching staff.
Eleven of the full contract recipients have been secured on two-year deals that extend through September 2028.
