England’s updated contract list, released on Monday, names 39 players, including 31‑year‑old fast bowler Brynan Carse, who remains eligible for selection despite a pending regulator charge over a Derby nightclub incident. Director of cricket Rob Key said on the Test Match Special podcast that Carse could return to the England side, depending on the outcome of the disciplinary process, and stressed the board’s aim to support players’ careers while upholding standards.
The two‑year contracts awarded last year now run until autumn 2027, with 30 full central deals and nine development contracts. The list also introduced new backroom staff for both Test and white‑ball teams, featuring Stephen Fleming’s additions of Richard Dawson, James Foster and Eric Simons, while Brendon McCullum retains Sarah Taylor, Jeetan Patel and Tim Southee, and Kevin Pietersen joins the white‑ball setup ahead of next year’s World Cup.
