St. Louis Blues forward Dylan Peterson is set to make his NHL debut on Tuesday, capping off a long journey since being selected in the third round of the 2020 NHL Draft.
After a strong start to the season with the Springfield Thunderbirds in the American Hockey League, Peterson earned a recall from the Blues and will take the ice against the Ottawa Senators in a three-game road trip. The 24-year-old, who spent four years at Boston University, has spent the past two seasons developing in the AHL, where he has shown a mix of speed and physicality, recording 25 goals and 22 assists in 115 games with Springfield.
Coach Jim Montgomery has praised Peterson’s contributions, describing him as a prototypical fourth-line player who brings energy and a chip-and-chase style to the team’s lineup. "He’s got great speed, he takes puck to the net on the outside, he’s got a good release," Montgomery said, emphasizing Peterson’s ability to add an edge to the Blues’ game during their challenging road series.
The forward expressed his excitement and emotional fulfillment, noting that this moment has been years in the making since he was drafted. "It’s been worth it, every second," Peterson said, reflecting on his growth and the hard work that led to this opportunity.
