The Ottawa Senators continued their strong start to the season with a 4-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils on Monday night, despite facing another setback due to injuries. Tim Stützle led the scoring with a goal and an assist, while Shane Pinto and Stephen Halliday added to the Senators' offensive output.
Linus Ullmark made 29 saves, allowing just one goal in the final five minutes of play. The Senators' depth was tested further when defenseman Nikolas Matinpalo was injured in the first period after a collision with Anthony Mantha, leaving Ottawa shorthanded on the blue line.
With Jake Sanderson and Artem Zub already out, and forward William Eklund sidelined for an extended period, the Senators relied on timely scoring and fast-paced play to overcome the challenges. The Devils struggled to capitalize on penalties, as the Senators finally broke through with goals in the second period, including a power-play tally by Halliday after Brett Pesce lost his footing in front of the net.
