Dowman dazzles with double as Arsenal cruise past Ipswich

Sixteen-year-old talent Max Dowman marked his season debut with two goals to lead Arsenal to a 4-2 triumph over Ipswich Town during third-round Carabao Cup action at Portman Road. Manager Mikel Arteta rotated nine members of the starting squad that recently defeated Sunderland, yet the visitors took charge immediately.

Dowman initiated the scoring seven minutes in, weaving through the center and skipping past Cedric Kipre before beating Christian Walton. Noni Madueke doubled the advantage by cleanly striking a volley set up by Mikel Merino after Bruno Guimaraes regained possession, while Viktor Gyokeres managed merely six touches across the opening half.

Dowman struck again two minutes following the interval, adjusting to a Martin Zubimendi delivery that deflected off Jacob Greaves to slot the ball home. Merino extended Arsenal's margin to four prior to the hour mark with an effort that bounced inward off the frame, though Ipswich fought back through Anis Mehmeti and a stoppage-time strike from Chuba Akpom that beat Kepa.
