Don Mattingly delivers NSFW Phillies message after squeaking into MLB playoffs

Following a tense regular season conclusion on Sunday, manager Don Mattingly expressed unvarnished relief after his squad narrowly secured a postseason berth with a 7-3 victory over the Rays. Despite squandering a comfortable four-game cushion late in the schedule and enduring a four-game losing streak that allowed the Diamondbacks to close the gap, the team managed to punch their ticket thanks to a strong six-inning outing from pitcher Zack Wheeler.

Rob Thomson had previously been dismissed from his managerial duties on April 28 following a difficult 9-19 start before Mattingly stepped in to steer the club toward a resurgence. The newly qualified squad will now travel to Atlanta to begin their National League Wild Card series against the Braves on Tuesday.
