Does Bellamy need to win back Wales fans?

Wales manager Craig Bellamy has addressed suggestions that he must regain the trust of national team followers after turning down an opportunity to manage Burnley. The 47-year-old tactician, who won 78 caps during his international playing career, revealed that a restless night preceded his instinctual choice to reject a profitable proposal to replace Scott Parker at Turf Moor, where he previously served as assistant to Vincent Kompany.

Backing his loyalty, Bellamy pointed to his historical devotion to the country, recalling how he sought independent legal help to represent Wales against his club's wishes, in addition to previously funding Wrexham amid financial turmoil and waiving personal expenses from the Football Association of Wales.

Bellamy reaffirmed that his primary goal remains guiding Wales to Euro 2028 after missing qualification for the World Cup. He now turns his attention to an upcoming Nations League A slate covering four matches, including fixtures against Cristiano Ronaldo in Lisbon, Erling Haaland, and two games against Denmark, an opponent Wales have failed to defeat for 18 years.
