Detroit Lions place S Thomas Harper on IR, elevate 2 defenders for Week 3

The Detroit Lions have placed safety Thomas Harper on injured reserve following an ankle injury sustained during their second game of the season. This roster move further depletes the team's depth at the position, compounding existing absences like Avonte Maddox, Brian Branch, and Kerby Joseph.

To mitigate these losses for their upcoming matchup, the coaching staff plans to shift Christian Izen into a starting safety assignment alongside Chuck Clark. Additionally, the club elevated veteran Jalen Mills and rookie Keith Abney to bolster available coverage options against the New York Jets.
