Detroit Lions not worried about heavy workload for Jahmyr Gibbs

Detroit running back Jahmyr Gibbs handled a towering 34 total touches during the Lions' season-opening 31-30 overtime victory over the New Orleans Saints. Despite seeing a 21-point advantage slip away before securing the win at Ford Field, Detroit leaned heavily on Gibbs, who logged a personal-best 29 rushing attempts, 156 rushing yards, 186 total yards from scrimmage, and two scores.

His initial trip to the end zone marked his 50th career touchdown, placing him alongside legendary figures Jim Brown and Marcus Allen as just the sixth player across league history to reach that benchmark in 50 or fewer contests.

While Gibbs's massive usage sparked questions regarding his long-term durability, the team remains unconcerned about his heavy usage. Head coach Dan Campbell addressed the franchise's usage strategy following the contest, issuing an ominous reminder to upcoming opponents by declaring that his explosive playmaker has still not hit his peak form.
