Detroit Lions mailbag: What shakeups are coming on defense?

The Detroit Lions are scrambling to patch their defensive secondary after losing safety Avonte Maddox to a season-ending foot injury that requires surgery. With other safeties like Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph already sidelined on the PUP list, head coach Dan Campbell confirmed the squad is extremely thin at the position and actively looking to add outside talent.

The organization recently signed veteran defensive back Jalen Mills and added Bishop Fitzgerald from the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad, while Campbell acknowledged plans to poach additional players to shore up the roster.
