Derbyshire's Dal retires to take up finance job

Derbyshire all-rounder Anuj Dal has announced the conclusion of his professional cricket playing days to step into the financial sector. The 30-year-old departs the Division Two outfit following a nine-season stint to assume a full-time position at Nottingham's Ryley Wealth Management, an organization where he had previously maintained part-time employment alongside his sporting commitments.

Dal expressed sadness that negotiations over a fresh deal fell through, ending his time with the squad, though he voiced great enthusiasm for transitioning into this next professional venture.

Throughout his overall career, the ex-England Under-19 player amassed 3,773 runs and claimed 128 wickets across every format. His standout 2022 campaign featured 957 runs alongside 34 wickets, securing him Derbyshire's County Championship player of the year honors.

Off the pitch, Dal has served as the Professional Cricketers' Association's vice chair since 2021.
