Colorado head coach Deion Sanders is facing immense pressure to fix a struggling offense after opening the season with two consecutive losses following a 2-0 start. During a recent matchup against Baylor, starting quarterback Julian Lewis was pulled at halftime after completing 11 of 16 passes for 75 yards with zero touchdowns and taking three sacks.
Sanders emphasized that his choice to bench Lewis was strictly pragmatic rather than emotional, stressing that the squad simply must generate points.
Looking ahead to an upcoming contest against Texas Tech, Isaac Wilson emerges as the primary candidate to take over under center. Wilson previously played two seasons at Utah where he posted a 2-5 record as a starter while throwing for 1,510 yards, ten touchdowns, and eleven interceptions.
While Julian Lewis accumulated 733 passing yards, six touchdowns, and two interceptions overall, the bulk of that production came against Weber State, leaving the team with a meager 34 total points across three games against FBS opponents.
