David Ferrer releases statement as he confirms plans to step down as Spain’s Davis Cup captain

David Ferrer has confirmed he will vacate his role as the Spanish Davis Cup captain following the conclusion of the 2026 season. After taking the position in late 2022, the former player cited personal motivations for his departure and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the national squad.

He remains focused on guiding his team through the upcoming tournament in Bologna, where Spain faces an opening quarter-final match against Austria. Ferrer previously led the team to a runner-up finish against Italy last year and hopes to secure a championship title before his tenure ends.
