Ahead of a weekend Atlantic Coast Conference matchup under the lights, Clemson leader Dabo Swinney heaped praise on the fourth-ranked Miami Hurricanes during his Tuesday media session. Swinney stated that the roster boasts multiple Heisman hopefuls and displays no noticeable flaws across any position group.
The opposition features quarterback Darian Mensah and wide receiver Cooper Barkate, both of whom previously secured a narrow 46-45 triumph over Clemson while representing Duke last year at Memorial Stadium. During that prior contest, Mensah compiled 361 passing yards alongside four scores, while Barkate hauled in six receptions totaling 127 yards and a touchdown.
This season, Mensah leads the entire Football Bowl Subdivision in completion percentage at 88.7 percent, prompting Swinney to highlight the signal-caller's poise under pressure and excellent field vision. Clemson linebacker Sammy Brown attempts to disrupt that execution after recording ten total tackles in his previous outing.
Meanwhile, Miami head coach Mario Cristobal noted that cornerback Xavier Lucas might make a return following several defensive injuries managed by coordinator Corey Hetherman, though final determinations remain pending. On the other side, Clemson freshman quarterback Tait Reynolds looks to challenge that secondary after throwing for 499 yards and a touchdown across his last three appearances.
