Criticism 'normal' after poor start - Man Utd's Olid

Eva Olid has accepted that external scrutiny is entirely reasonable after a pointless start to Manchester United's Women's Super League schedule. The 41-year-old Spanish tactician arrived from Hearts over the summer to succeed Marc Skinner, but her tenure opened with a 2-1 defeat against London City Lionesses before a heavy 5-0 home loss to Chelsea.

United currently sit bottom of the standings having netted a single goal, recording under 40% ball share and registering merely two attempts on frame across both fixtures while struggling to blend their previous defensive resilience with an expansive possession approach.

Despite the early struggles, Olid remains confident that short-term adversity will fuel long-term development, noting that an opening slump does not dictate a club's final outcome. The schedule offers little respite, however, as United prepare to visit Emirates Stadium on Saturday for a clash with an Arsenal squad undefeated in 19 league fixtures, where the Manchester side has failed to secure a victory since November 2022.
