MMA legend Cris Cyborg has reversed her retirement plans, announcing she will return to the cage after all. The 41-year-old Brazilian fighter, who had been widely expected to retire following her August victory at PFL Tampa, confirmed her decision during a recent interview.
Cyborg defeated former UFC bantamweight Ketlen Vieira by unanimous decision in what was initially promoted as her final fight, securing her 30th career win and defending the women’s featherweight championship in the process. Despite Vieira missing the featherweight limit by over seven pounds, Cyborg dominated the bout, leaving open the possibility of further competition.
With her PFL contract concluded after the fight, Cyborg now has the freedom to pursue opportunities in other promotions, including the newly merged Most Valuable Promotions and PFL. Her decision comes after weeks of speculation, as she initially stated she wanted to take time to reflect before making a final call on her future in MMA.
