Cricket is set to welcome its fourth major format with the debut of **Test Twenty**, a groundbreaking mixed-gender tournament launching in Colombo from November 14 to 29. The event will feature 160 young cricketers aged 13 to 21, divided into four continental teams of 20 girls and 20 boys each.
Unlike traditional cricket, the format combines scores from parallel boys' and girls' matches to determine a single winner, with the toss deciding which gender's match plays first. Each game spans 80 overs, split into two 40-over sessions: the first under daylight with a red ball, the second under floodlights with a white ball and colored attire.
The tournament’s ‘Parity Rule’ ensures runs from one match directly influence the other’s outcome, fostering a unique competitive dynamic. Backed by an advisory board including cricket legends, Test Twenty aims to redefine youth cricket by valuing performances across genders equally.
All matches will be broadcast live on Sony Sports Network, with the final scheduled for November 29.
