India’s Men’s Selection Committee has named Bhuvneshwar Kumar to the squad for the fifth and final T20I against West Indies, set for October 17 at Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The decision follows a setback for Arshdeep Singh, who suffered a shoulder injury during the fourth match in Hyderabad and remains unavailable pending a fitness assessment before the decider. Kumar, who last played a T20I in November 2022, returns after a standout IPL 2026 season where he finished as the second-highest wicket-taker (28) for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, helping them retain their title.
With 87 T20I caps and 90 wickets at an average of 23.10, the 36-year-old adds depth to India’s bowling options ahead of the series finale. The updated squad now includes 16 players, balancing experience and youth as the team aims to close out the series on a high note.
