Cowboys news: Plan for Caleb Downs may change for Packers game

The Dallas Cowboys are preparing for their upcoming matchup against the Green Bay Packers with potential adjustments to rookie first-round pick Caleb Downs. Due to recent secondary injuries, Downs has lined up mostly at safety over the last pair of games, but head coach Brian Schottenheimer indicated the team's original intention is to utilize the first-year player closer to the line of scrimmage.

Meanwhile, the defensive coaching staff has added Mike Pettine as a senior defensive assistant to support the unit and assist close friend Christian Parker during games from the coaches booth. In additional roster movement, quarterback Joe Milton was signed off the Cowboys practice squad by the Philadelphia Eagles.
