Dallas is finalizing an agreement to bring cornerback Joey Porter Jr. to the squad from Pittsburgh in exchange for a future sixth-round pick in 2027 and a second-rounder in 2028.
The defensive back missed training camp and the opening games of the season due to an impasse over a contract extension during the final year of his rookie deal. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones recently discussed the team evaluating moving parts on the roster, while franchise leadership addressed ongoing communication.
The acquisition aims to bolster a struggling defensive unit in Dallas that has surrendered 27.3 points per contest during a one-and-two start. Porter previously accumulated 165 total tackles, three interceptions, and 31 passes defended across his first three campaigns after being selected 32nd overall in the 2023 draft.
