Coventry seal first PL win in 25 years at Forest amid VAR controversy

Coventry City secured their first Premier League triumph in a quarter-century with a 1-0 win against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. Following a goalless opening half that featured 20 combined attempts—including shots on target from James McAtee, Neco Williams, and Brandon Thomas-Asante—the visitors broke the deadlock in the 55th minute.

Goalkeeper Carl Rushworth launched a precise long pass to Jay Dasilva, who maneuvered around Daniel Munoz and slotted past Matz Sels to tally his maiden goal in 127 outings for the club, simultaneously registering Coventry's first goal and points of the campaign.

Frank Lampard's side preserved the advantage thanks to defensive interventions and video review. Bobby Thomas produced a 76th-minute goalline stop to keep out Forest substitute Igor Jesus, who subsequently had an 86th-minute strike voided when referee Jarred Gillett checked the pitchside monitor and ruled Jesus had fouled Caleb Yirenkyi.
