The Washington Commanders will take on the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night without their leading back, Jacory Croskey-Merritt, who has been ruled out due to a lingering groin injury. The injury, which has plagued Croskey-Merritt since summer and flared up again this week, has kept him sidelined for practice and the upcoming matchup.
The Commanders' backfield depth is further strained by additional injuries, including shoulder issues for Rachaad White and a chest injury for Austin Ekeler, though both remain active in practice. Head coach Dan Quinn has not ruled out activating Jeremy McNichols from injured reserve to bolster the unit.
Beyond the backfield, linebackers Javontae Jean-Baptiste, Charles Omenihu, and quarterback Marcus Mariota will also miss the game due to separate injuries. The team’s full injury report is expected later on Saturday.
